7-year-old killed in horror crash
MELROSE – A 7-year-old was ejected from a car that rolled on the M1 South after Atholl Oaklands on 9 July.
Emer-G-Med reported that at approximately 10.41pm on 9 July, they arrived at the scene of a horrific accident that took place on the M1 South after Atholl Oaklands.
Paramedics arrived on the scene to discover the child lying in the slow lane of traffic of the highway, at least 30 metres from where the vehicle had come to a stop.
Emer-G-Med reported that on assessment, the child showed no signs of life. Paramedics attempted to resuscitate the child, however, despite their efforts, the child was declared dead on the scene.
The two other occupants of the vehicle were reportedly uninjured in the crash.

JMPD’s specialist Accident Investigation Unit were on the scene to investigate the events leading up to the collision.
Emer-G-Med have issued a call to action, urging drivers to ensure that all passengers in their vehicles are wearing seatbelts and that young children are in a car seat.
