Victory for fired SABC journos
JOBURG – SABC makes U-turn on their appeal of Labour Court judgement.
It is victory for the seven of the eight SABC employees who were dismissed by the public broadcaster.
SABC management has announced that it will reinstate the seven dismissed news employees. According to a statement released by the public broadcaster, it has instructed its legal team not to proceed with further legal action.
The SABC had fired Jacques Steenkamp‚ Foeta Krige, Suna Venter, Thandeka Gqubule‚ Busisiwe Ntuli, Lukhanyo Calata and Krivani Pillay‚ after accusing the journalists of going public with their concerns about the new controversial editorial policy on covering of violent protests.
The SABC reversed their editorial policy following an order from Icasa.
