Police showers home with goodies on Women’s Day

JOBURG – Mother Teresa Home receives goodies from the cops on Women's Day.

Johannesburg East Cluster police officers showered the women and children of Mother Teresa Home in Yeoville with gifts in celebration of Women’s Day.

Speaking to attendees, cluster commander, General Dimakatso Ndaba, said women were vulnerable to most serious crimes and police officers must ensure that the rights of women were protected. She added that much more was needed to be done to ensure gender equality.

“A girl child must not walk with fear that there is a rapist behind her,” Ndaba said.

Ndaba said while constitutionally the rights of women were protected, there was more to be done in achieving gender equality on the ground.

She urged women to stand together and fight the scourge of crime against women and children.

The Johannesburg East Cluster covers Jeppe, Hillbrow, Rosebank, Parkview, Norwood and Yeoville police stations.
