Zumba for cancer

EMMARENTIA – Fitness fanatics gather at Marks Park to Wiggle their Jiggles for cancer.

EMMARENTIA – Wiggle your Jiggle for Cansa brings fitness fanatics together at Marks Park for three hours of Zumbathon fun.

The day was put together to bring a sensational end to breast cancer awareness month. Participants did their best cha-cha and rumba in the park.

This initiative had people of all ages dance from 9am to 12pm. Women took to the initiative very well though this did not mean that the men did not enjoy it too. A few men joined in the salsa moves and had a ball of a time as they perfected their moves.

The Zumbathon was put together to also bring awareness to male breast cancer, as most of us might not be aware that men also get diagnosed with breast cancer.

Dance instructor, Erika Swart, said that Zumba created a fun element which brought people together. She added that this was a great way to make people happier. “This day was really about spreading the word and letting people know it is real.”

Swart also added that people generally know of someone who has either survived cancer or has cancer. She was very pleased to see all the support the Zumbathon had garnered. She also wanted to make sure that participants had a great time.”Let’s get them screaming and shouting and just being themselves while having fun, it is a feel-good workout, that leaves you feeling great all day.”
