Joburg-based kart racer, Jordan North of Radford House school flies the national flag high in Italy

JOBURG – He performed very well in the main race, however, one small mistake ended up costing him a top-10 finish overall.

Jordan North (13) of Radford House school competed in the European OK J Finals at the South Garda circuit in northern Italy.

Being that it was his first trip of the year overseas, the Johannesburg-based kart racer managed to yield some positive results at the competition.

North did very well in the practice rounds as the team managed to finish in the top five.

“In one of the heats I was taken out so hard from behind that it broke the rear bumper, so we started the pre-final at 26th and finished 19th,” North said. “I’m very happy. I learned a lot about qualifying and defending.”

He performed very well in the main race, however, one small mistake ended up costing him a top-10 finish overall.

“The final was pretty good – I moved up eight places, finished 11th overall despite making my only real mistake the whole weekend when I left the door open and let three guys past, so we should have finished 8th.

“It’s been a big learning curve and I’m very happy and I feel very comforted going into the CIK-FIA Academy first round in Genk, Belgium in May,” North concluded.
