One person was killed in an accident involving a taxi this morning (20 April) on the M1 highway before the Corlett Drive offramp.
Jurgen Kotze, general manager for Emer-G-Med’s northern office told the Rosebank Killarney Gazette that just the taxi was involved in the accident and they were unsure if the accident was caused by a burst tyre or if the driver lost control of the vehicle.
One person died on the scene before they could receive medical assistance. Another 14 patients were transported from the scene to various hospitals. Two of the 14 injured were in a critical condition while the other passengers sustained minor injuries.
Major traffic delays have been reported in the area and traffic is backed up on Oxford Road heading towards Parktown.
