Officers of the Norwood Police Station and members of Lifeline and the South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (Sanca) visited Norwood Primary School to give a talk to the schoolchildren about the dangers of drug abuse.
Norwood police enlisted the help of Sanca which strives to spread awareness of the negative effects of various drug and alcohol dependencies, and Lifeline, which offers counselling for issues ranging from HIV/Aids to depression, to chat to the children.
Spokesperson for the station, Captain Elliot Tshivhase said, “The children were alerted to not accept any gifts from strangers and to inform their teachers and parents or the police if they are approached.
The children were also spoken to about bullying and Tshivhase said the police would get involved if bullying became a problem at the school.
