An enticing career

PARKTOWN – The Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital will be at the forefront of pharmacy month when they host grade 10 and 11 learners from two schools in Soweto in September.

As part of the official health calendar, the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital in Parktown is dedicating the entire month of September to celebrating good pharmacy practices.

“The objective behind National Pharmacy Month is to promote pharmacy and visibly demonstrate the significant role the profession plays in the healthcare sector,” said Mandisa Maholwana, Ceo of the hospital.

“To celebrate Pharmacy Month at Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, we have decided to host pharmacy career exhibitions, with the objective of imparting knowledge to learners about pharmacy as a career.”

Mahlowana said this would assist youngsters in making informed career choices when deciding on their post-matric qualifications. In addition, there will be exposure to other clinical departments at the hospital. “We will host a maximum of 30 Grade 10 and 11 mathematics and science learners from Ngungunyane and Mapetla High Schools in Soweto. The events will be held in September.”

Details: The launch will take place on 4 September between 9am and 11am at the hospital’s pharmacy department entrance.
