Kree said the essence of this function is to thank the domestic workers who have become part of their families for the sterling work they do in their households.

She said they have 97 workers providing essential services to the families affiliated to their union and through this event they want to say thank you.

“We want to show our appreciation to them and treat them as part of our families because, at the end, they are our families,” said Kree.

“Most of the domestic workers we hosted today [15 March] are from various suburbs in the Johannesburg north-east area but we also have some from the Sandton area.”

The domestic workers were treated to various activities and were further issued gifts such as clothes, cellphones, vouchers, watches and other exciting products like cosmetics.

Vincent Ramaila, one of the domestic workers, said he has been attending these functions for a long time and he is happy with how they are being treated.
