Sho Madjozi, Black Motion, Samthing Soweto and more set to fire up Basha Uhuru Fest
JOBURG – The three-day festival presents an exciting mix of DJs, bands and solo acts.
Now in its sixth year, Basha Uhuru Freedom Fest presents an exciting mix of DJs, bands and solo acts.
The festival showcases the best in contemporary art, design, film and music – a celebration of young South African creatives.
Taking place from 28 to 30 June at Constitution Hill, the three-day festival also commemorates the youth of 1976 through thrilling arts and culture and provides inspirational workshops and entrepreneurial support programmes for young creatives.

“Constitution Hill is not a static space stuck in time but rather a movement that connects the past, the present and the future through sparks of experiences like Basha Uhuru. Through this festival, we preserve the past and the sacrifices made by the youth of ’76,” said Dawn Robertson, CEO of Constitution Hill.
The festival has grown into one of the foremost urban, creative youth festivals in the country as it curates the unique experiences that bring the youth together while pushing the boundaries of art and culture.

Kirsty Niehaus, Nando’s art manager, said visitors can look forward to an art and design exhibition featuring four artists from the Nando’s Creative Exchange programme.
“We are excited about our partnership with the Basha Uhuru Freedom Festival as it showcases young, talented artists such as Sho Madjozi, Muzi, Joshua The I AM and Zoe Modiga, who are also being nurtured through Nando’s creative programmes,” Niehaus said.

The festival opens with thought-provoking exhibitions from renowned photographers and artists such as Jodi Bieber, Ludumo Maqabuka and many more. The film aspect includes a screening of The People vs Patriarchy and Five Fingers for Marseilles with the festival ending off with a concert featuring Sho Madjozi, Black Motion, Samthing Soweto, Skwatta Kamp and many more.
