#MandelaDay: Everyone can make a difference
KEW – The First Group and Help24 have teamed up to hand out 3 000 blankets to the displaced for Mandela Day.
The First Group and Help24 teamed up for a special handout of blankets on Mandela Day for those who need it most.
Director of First Road Emergency Clinton Spolander said, “Mandela day is all about making a difference –taking action against poverty and doing anything, no matter how large or small, to better ourselves and our society. With this in mind, the tow truck drivers have engaged a call to action to help those they see impacted by winter.”

The companies handed out three thousand blankets throughout Mandela Day on 18 July to the displaced in areas that they patrol across Gauteng. Spolander said that some of the blankets will be also handed over to local churches to give to those in need.
He added, “We have gotten to know some of these people who are forced to live on the streets and it is always difficult to come to terms with how hard their lives are. The winter conditions make it near impossible to ignore, which is why we got together as a fraternity to do something that can make a small difference.”
