Shoprite warms Nazareth Houses hearts

YEOVILLE – Shoprite Yeoville donated 200 blankets to Nazareth House on 12 July.

The Shoprite branch in Yeoville gave a special gift to Nazareth House through the donation of 200 blankets.

The handover forms part of Shoprite Checkers’ Winter Warmers outreach programme where they donated blankets to Nazareth House on 12 July and Frida Hartly Shelter on 13 July.

The branch manager of Shoprite Yeoville, Robert Norman said, “Nazareth House has a hospice and an old-age home. Someone needs to take care of the elderly, who looked after us when we were young so we should give back.”

He said that the Winter Warmer programme will see each Shoprite branch give back to the region that they serve and engage with the local community.

Manager at Nazareth House Olivea Louw said, “Its so amazing because the cold is one of the challenges we have. With the power cuts that we have and Yeoville being a cold place, this is a big help.”

Louw added that the donation will help 20 hospice patients, 40 orphans and abandoned children and a 130 old-age home patients.
