Mashaba shares successes and struggles with Dunkeld residents
DUNKELD – Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba made a speech at Dunkeld Bowls Club on 1 August.
The Democratic Alliance and Executive Mayor Herman Mashaba hosted a public meeting at the Dunkeld Bowls Club on 1 August.
The event saw ward councillors in attendance from various areas including Ward 99 councillor Nicole van Dyk and Ward 90 councillor Martin Williams who gave a special introductory address before Mayor Mashaba began the proceedings.
The gathering came two days before the two-year anniversary of the 2016 elections which saw the DA win by 38 per cent and Mashaba eventually sworn in as mayor.
He said, “As a South African, we need to applaud ourselves and our constitutional framework that allowed the transition of power.”
Mashaba mentioned that his administration had inherited a number of issues from the previous administration including backlogs on the stormwater drainage system and the majority of the bridges.
He added that his administration inherited an R17-billion debt from the African National Congress’s rule in Johannesburg, but announced that his administration has R6 billion.
Mashaba ended his address by thanking the residents and ward councillors for their constant support.
He said, “The job of getting the City working is a long haul. But we have to accelerate the process. With your patience and support, we can dislodge the ANC from power and save this country.”
