Joburg Central police donate blood
JOHANNESBURG – Top cop says donating blood is part of the police's remit in protecting the nation.
The Johannesburg Central Cluster alongside the Ithlokomeleng Batho Rehabilitation Centre engaged with the local community to host a blood drive on 21 July.
The initiative was spearheaded by Station Commander of Johannesburg Central Police Station Major General Dr Ronnie Rajin.
The event took place at Southgate Mall throughout the day. Rajin said, “It is the duty of the police to protect people and their property to ensure that they remain safe and secure in their communities, but donating blood is another way of showing that the police care so much about the community.”
He encouraged the police to keep on donating blood to save the nation.
Spokesperson for the Johannesburg Central Police Station Captain Xoli Mbele said, “Policemen and women came out in numbers to donate blood, even members of the community also graced the occasion. Safety-tip pamphlets were also distributed.”
