Kes accounting learners shine bright

JOHANNESBURG – The King Edwards VII School accounting learners impressed at the Gauteng National Olympiad.

 

The King Edward VII School are very proud of their talented accounting team which came in joint-first in Gauteng at the National Olympiad.

Spokesperson of the school Lisa Slooten said, “Congratulations to all the accounting learners and the teachers at King Edward VII School who were involved in the joint success of our school in the Olympiad.

Grade 12 learner Nabeel Fazluddin who placed in second achieved a score of 90 per cent.

Head of accounting at King Edward VII School Cathy Avidon said that this year saw 6 700 Grade 11 and 12 learners, from 478 private and public schools across the country, take part in the first round of the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (Saipa) National Accounting Olympiad.”

A number of the school’s learners formed part of the 15 per cent to qualify for the second provincial round.

Of the seven Grade 12 learners to qualify, two learners achieved spots in the top ten competitors in Gauteng with Nabeel Fazluddin placed in second, achieving a score of 90 per cent and Uwais Sheikjee placed in joint-ninth with a score of 84 per cent.

The Grade 12s who took part in the second round of the Saipa Oympiad.

The school also saw 14 Grade 11 learners in the second round with nine placing in the top 10. This included Brayden Ramsay who placed in joint-third, Nathaneal de Swardt in joint-fourth, Dino Claro and Riyaadh Seedat placed in joint-fifth and Joshua-Daniel Ruthel in joint-sixth. Tate Eslick, Hlanga Mamaregane and Benjamin Scott placed in joint-eighth while Phillip Erasmus placed in joint-tenth.

Slooten added, “Fantastic results and we applaud one and all on all their efforts and hard work. Well done to Cathy Avidon and Shanta Naidoo on superb results.”
