St Teresa’s girls render support

CRAIGHALL PARK – St Teresa's School learners from both junior and senior primary schools took part in the Rare Diseases Day and purchased R10 stickers per learner.

St Teresa’s Junior Primary School in Craighall Park, as well as the St Teresa’s girls at the Rosebank school, participated in International Rare Diseases Day on Thursday 28 February. This day aims to raise awareness about rare diseases and their impact on the patient and their family.

A rare disease is defined as a condition that affects fewer than 200 000 people. There are over 6 000 rare diseases worldwide that affect over 300 million people. In South Africa alone there are 3.7 million people who live with a rare disease.

By voluntarily purchasing a sticker for R10 to assist in the fundraising towards International Rare Diseases Day, St Teresa’s girls were allowed to adorn their hair on the day as they saw fit. From rainbow plaits and animal ears to flower garlands and multiple ponytails, the girls went all out with their funky hairstyles to show their support for this worthy cause.
