Local school in Westcliff had community members and guests share in an experience that will be felt for years to come by screening the film Mission: Joy.
The Ridge School hosted the first South African screening of the movie Mission: Joy in partnership with Anglican Diocese of Johannesburg on June 1.
The highly anticipated international film is a moving and hilarious documentary about South African icon Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s friendship with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and their secrets to finding joy in difficult times.

The film shares the humour and wisdom of two of the world’s most beloved icons. These two Nobel Peace Prize recipients joined forces for one final mission to demonstrate to the world how to live joyfully.
The Right Reverend Dr Steve Moreo, Bishop of Johannesburg, together with his invited guests, Soweto Gospel Choir, members of The Ridge School community, among others, shared in an experience that will be felt for years to come.

According to Wayne Naidoo, headmaster of The Ridge School, the message from the film resonates with the values they seek to instill in their learners as well as their own personal development. “The film really brought home to all of us how a better world starts with us.” said Naidoo.
In the spirit of sharing joy, guests were treated to an outstanding performance by The Ridge School Marimba band. The Ridge School Junior Choir had guests dancing and singing along to their rendition of Give A Little Love by Ziggy Marley and The Melody Makers.
