A kind and generous school
The Bewegungs Bonanza is a fundraiser for the Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg, where guests can participate in a variety of unique activities.
The Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg (DSJ) hosted its first-ever Bewegungs-Bonanza fundraiser on May 28.
The morning was filled with a fun run and a walk, as well as live performances from its learners. The event took place on what was meant to be the annual Schulbasar (Bierfest) day, which was unfortunately cancelled again this year.

Savo Ceprnich of the school said they really missed their annual Schulbasar which attracts about 10 000 people each year. “This was the first year that we were able to host a live event and we hope that we can use the Bewegungs-Bonanza as a first step in realising our goal of hosting the Schulbasar again one day,” he added.

A mass participation in a pilates session was held on one of the school fields and proved to be a success. The Bewegungs-Bonanza also included two special drives run by the school. The Project Teddy Collection, which is an initiative founded by the Wits Department of Anaesthesia, collected more than 250 teddy bears on the day, and for the third year in a row, the school held the Going for a Guild food drive for its neighbours, Guild Cottage.

“We are proud to have contributed to two meaningful causes in our surrounding community. The DSJ is not only a place of world-class education, it is also extremely kind and generous to the community.”
