A green initiative that keeps growing
Collaborative efforts in support of Green Crew initiative make Greenside’s local park cleaner.
Residents going past Sir Lionel Phillips Park in Greenside will notice that it’s cleaner than ever.
This is all thanks to the Green Crew initiative which is growing – and its members William Matsheke, Tobias Moyo and Themba Matema. Greenside Resident’s Association (GRA) chairperson Judith Ancer shared that since January this year, the residents of Cruden Bay Road, with the help of the Green Crew, have been keeping Sir Lionel Philips Park and its surrounds neat and tidy.
“Now Pirates Club is also partnering with the GRA on this initiative. Thanks to a generous monthly donation from Pirates, the full three-man Green Crew is tackling litter, weeding and general park maintenance.
“We are very proud of the work the GRA Greening committee and the Green Crew are doing to improve the suburb and are grateful for the support of institutions in the suburb like Pirates. It is especially inspiring to see initiatives such as this one, initiated and funded by the Cruden Bay Road residents with the support of the GRA.”
Pirates Club chairperson Brad Guymer added that they were very excited to be a part of the amazing initiative. “The amazing Green Crew work their hardest to make the park a safe, clean space for you and your families to enjoy.
