An original mural for the school
A mural designed to create a happy atmosphere for children and staff at Forest Town School.
Walking down the hallway at Forest Town School, your eyes are treated to a beautiful mural.
Claudia Vila Boa, a physiotherapist at Forest Town School, painted the mural and s believes it has the potential to create a happy atmosphere for the children and staff at the school.
“Our school has limited space and therefore we have minimal green areas, so I thought that painting a mural with a landscape would help create an open and freeing outdoor atmosphere, an adventure walk you could say,” Vila Boa said.

She said the mural project started before Covid-19 and was now finally completed, and she had help from the general assistant Martinette Oosthuizen, who drew the school emblem and buildings.
“I specifically remember one of the younger children, who did not know I was the one who painted the mural, turning to me and pointing at the wall, saying it was her garden. It made my heart smile.”
She added that throughout the project, she was encouraged by all who walked past and felt the love they all had for the project as she tried to include the staff and children’s suggestions as much as possible.
