After two years of lockdown restrictions, Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg hosted a successful fun day.
The German international school’s field was full of children and parents who played soccer, and a jumping castle children managed to climb with ropes around their waists.

Headmaster Thomas Bachmeier said the fun day was overdue.
“After lockdown restrictions were lifted, our learners and school parents were longing for such social activities. The fun day is usually hosted once a year as a fundraising event.”

A learner Isabella Daehnke expressed that this year’s fun day was special to her.
“I recently started a jewellery business and my mom suggested I sell my products at school for the fun day. My business came about because I wanted to have more money and I’m definitely looking forward to having a stand at more family days.”

Parent, Privat Francois added the social day was a good way of entertaining children.

“Fun days are important because they happen in environments where not only children learn but play, which is refreshing. It’s also a good way of getting to know other parents or my son’s friends’ parents.”

Bachmeier added that the school was known for hosting events which saw 10 000 people attend, including the public which helped the school’s fundraising efforts.
