Community Safety Committee meet with Norwood Police Station’s new commander at Paterson Park Hall

The Community Safety Committee met to discuss ongoing problems affecting the community.

The Community Safety Committee met at Paterson Park Hall with Norwood Police Station’s new station commander to keep him abreast of issues faced by the community and its members on February 10.

Ward 73 Councillor Eleanor Hugett said the meeting was attended by various members of the committee.

“The meeting was opened by the Dr. Bandile Masuku Chairperson of the Committee, Norwood Police Station’s commander Colonel Govender and closed by the committee chair Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane.”

Huggett added that reports were given, and pertinent questions were asked by Masuku and Nkosi-Malobane about the many issues facing Norwood Police Station’s new commander which he answered and promised to address.

Ward 73’s councillor concluded that she already saw noticeable progress in resolving the many problems since Colonel Govender took up his position in December.

“Many illegally run businesses in the area were closed and there was a noticeable increase in the confidence the community had in the police station. I thank Colonel Govender and his team for this.”
