Norwood Police Station arrested three suspects for house robbery in Sydenham

Three suspects were arrested for house robbery, and possession of unlicensed firearms.

Three suspects were arrested for house robbery and possession of three unlicensed firearms and ammunition in Sydenham by Norwood police on January 19.

Norwood police spokesperson warrant officer Eric Masotsha said, “The complainant stood outside her house by the gate talking to a friend when an unknown Isuzu swift vehicle suddenly stopped and pointed at them with guns and instructed them to get inside her house. She opened the gate and was pointed with firearms, and all were ordered to lie down on the floor as the suspects ransacked the house.”

The following items were taken from the house: three cellphones, TV sets, two laptops, and clothing all for a total value of R75 000.

He added that immediately when the suspects left, the complainant and her friend went out and saw a private security patrol van and explained what happened.

“Police were called to the scene. On their arrival suspects were searched and police found three unlicensed firearms in the suspects’ possession which were all stolen items from the house.”

All three suspects were arrested for house robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, and possession of stolen property. The suspects were taken to Norwood cells for formal detention.
