St Teresa’s Senior Primary welcomed 22 Grade 3 learners from various schools on March 8, to their ‘Gals with the Gab’ Public Speaking workshop.
The workshop transformed the Catherine McAuley Auditorium into a vibrant hub of confidence-building and communication exploration.
Marketing and communications manager Lianda May said, initiated in 2023, ‘Gals with the Gab’ is a workshop aimed at nurturing the confidence and eloquence of young girls.
“Through interactive and engaging activities and exercises centered around public speaking, participants are equipped with essential communication skills. Throughout the workshop, emphasis was placed on key aspects of effective communication, including voice projection, maintaining eye contact, articulation, and using body language to convey messages.”
These skills are not only crucial in public speaking but also in various facets of life, empowering young girls to express themselves with clarity and conviction.
Senior Primary School principal, Lindsey Verster noted that the atmosphere was filled with laughter, learning, and camaraderie as the girls enthusiastically participated in activities, learned a new poem, and forged new friendships.
“The event served as a testament to the power of education and collaboration in fostering personal growth and development.”
St Teresa’s Senior Primary extended a heartfelt gratitude to Blairgowrie Primary School, Rosebank Primary School, McAuley House, and St Teresa’s Junior Primary School for their enthusiastic participation, which contributed to the success of the workshop and created a memorable experience for all involved.
