Power outage affects Craighall Park and surrounds

City Power urges customers to reduce electricity consumption to prevent overloading the system.

Residents in Craighall Park woke up to no power on June 4.  It is reported that the power went off at about 01:30.

Residents took to X, (formerly Twitter) to report the outage. Other areas affected include Melrose, Hyde Park, Rosebank and parts of Parktown North.

According to Ward 90 Councillor Martin Williams, the Craighall Park outage is caused by a trip at the Parkhurst substation. “I spoke to the team leader [City Power] and they said they received 65 calls for the Craighall Park area and will be sending operators there to investigate.”

City Power said they are aware of the outage and will be sending a team to investigate the cause. There is currently no estimated time of restoration.
