DP World Lions Cricket and Ashraful Aid maintain a successful partnership
Ashraful Aid aimed to pack 5 000 bags to feed 20 000 people.
DP World Lions Cricket and Ashraful Aid were delighted about the high turnout at their Mandela Day food parcel initiative at Wanderers Stadium on July 18.
Chief operations officer at Ashraful Aid Yusuf Nabee said, “Our goal was to pack 5 000 food parcels to assist approximately 20 000 people countrywide. Today is about Madiba’s spirit of giving back to our communities and encouraging people to volunteer because not everyone can help daily but giving your time, skills or money goes a long way.”
Lions Cricket CFO Brecht Mohonathan said they had always had a vision to create something that would impact societies and change lives while involving communities.
“Today exceeded our expectations because the preregistration numbers for the event were the highest they have ever been. It is amazing to see the high turnout and how people spent their time at a worthy cause.”
