St Vincent’s School for the Deaf celebrated a momentous milestone, marking its 90th anniversary with a heart-warming ceremony that brought together the entire school community.
The event, held on August 8, featured a massive cake and a touching moment when learners signed ‘Happy Birthday’ in South African Sign Language, showcasing the school’s deep-rooted commitment to deaf education.
Principal Winners Shishenge expressed the significance of the occasion, stating, “this is more than just a celebration of 90 years. It’s an opportunity to honour the mission set forth by the Dominican Sisters who founded the school – to educate deaf learners and ensure the deaf community is heard.”
The event was a joyful reunion of learners, parents, and the founding Dominican Sisters, all united in their shared dedication to the school’s mission.
