Greenside High’s swimming gala was a celebration of school spirit and talent

The second annual inter-house swimming gala made a big splash, with Respect House taking home the gold.

The air was thick with excitement at Greenside High School on January 23 as the second annual inter-house swimming gala kicked off spectacularly.
The school’s pool became a battleground of skill, speed, and school spirit, with every race sparking cheers and chants from the stands.

From the first splash to the final stroke, the energy was palpable. Learners from all six houses put on a thrilling display of athleticism, each determined to take home the trophy and claim bragging rights for the year. But beyond the fierce competition, the event showcased what Greenside is all about – a community united by individuality, where every swimmer had a chance to shine.

The atmosphere was electric, with each house creating a unique buzz of pride and enthusiasm. From the eager swimmers preparing behind the starting blocks to the cheers that filled the air with every win, the gala was a true reflection of what makes our school great. This wasn’t just a day for swimming, it was about unity, sportsmanship, and celebrating the talents that make each learner special.

A big thank you goes to the sports department, led by deputy principal Sibusiso Masombuka, sports coordinator Dipesh Maisuria, and senior leaders Naila Myles and Lungelo Tsekiso, whose hard work ensured the event ran smoothly.
