Losing a child is one of the most devastating events a parent can face. The new group seeks to offer not only emotional support but also guidance for navigating the complex emotions of grief. While no one can erase the pain, sharing experiences with others who understand the heartache can bring comfort.

Grieving a baby’s death can be a prolonged journey, with symptoms that vary from intense sadness and isolation, to feelings of guilt and anger. The Compassionate Friends encourages parents to permit themselves to grieve, acknowledging that this process may take longer than expected and that every person experiences loss in their own way.
The support group, which will hold its first session on March 8, also aims to help couples cope with the strain grief can place on relationships, with many parents struggling to understand each other’s reactions. Grieving spouses may experience different emotional responses, and the group will provide a safe space to discuss these feelings and foster communication.
In addition to supporting adults, the Compassionate Friends group will also offer guidance for young siblings and help them process their grief in an age-appropriate way.
Parents who attend are encouraged to share their experiences and find solace in knowing that they are not alone. The Compassionate Friends hope to bring some peace and healing to families enduring the pain of loss.
