Rosebank SAPS will be visible in the community during festive season

More drunk and driving operations are expected during the festive season

Although Rosebank SAPS had a challenging year, it is still determined to fight and curb crime while ensuring community members are safe.

Warrant Officer Bongi Mdletshe explained, “We were challenged with a few crime incidents this year that led us to ensure we do more crime prevention duties and work in conjunction with security companies within our policing precinct.”

Mdletshe noted that delivery scooters were a problem in the precinct, because the drivers usually didn’t have a driver’s licence, a public driver’s permit or were not in the country legally.

The warrant officer highlighted that, in a nutshell, the Rosebank SAPS had a good year. “Some of our members were promoted, which left a gap in our manpower at the station.”

Mdletshe noted that Rosebank SAPS often collaborated with security personnel in the community, which helped decrease crimes in the area.

“We’d advise people to communicate with their security companies when they go on holiday. Other homeowners have cameras that are linked to their phones, which help them know what is going on in their homes.”

He highlighted that SAPS, together with the security personnel, intended to patrol residential areas.

Mdletshe also alerted the public that there would be more drunk and driving operations during this season, especially on Christmas Day.

“The stats of drunk driving accidents are always high, and we are trying to decrease these accidents. We will also be frequenting public spaces and conducting foot patrols to interact with our community during this festive season.”
