“My aim is to give true meaning to being a public servant, and to also bring active partnership into how we do things in our ward going forward. My motivation to become a councillor was informed by the realisation that I must save myself, make the required sacrifices, and put in the hard graft to do so.”

Similarly, the councillor believes each of her ward members is obliged to do the same if they want to rebuild the city of Johannesburg.

The Ward 90 councillor noted that knowing that she only has a year in which to make her mark before the local government election at the end of 2026, communication will be key.

“My aim is to provide my ward with useful and timely information. I am finding as many opportunities as possible to actively engage with my ward, and am glad to say I have already established a solid relationship with some sterling residents’ associations in the ward.”

As part of the DA’s Sandton Constituency, van Onseleen has also started mapping out at least 3 public engagements a week up to August 2026, and you will be the first to know when you can find me, and where.
