Crazy hair at St Teresa’s helps raise awareness about Rare Disease Day
From bright braids and bold buns to glitter and spray-on colour, the order of the day was crazy hair for St Teresa's learners in support of Rare Disease Day.
St Teresa’s School showed its true colours.
Rosies from grades R to 7, across the Craighall Park and Rosebank campuses, took part in a vibrant crazy hair day in support of Rare Disease Day.
From bright braids and bold buns to glitter and spray-on colour, the girls embraced the fun with creativity and enthusiasm, while raising funds for a meaningful cause.
The initiative reminded the school community that many illnesses are not visible, yet have a profound impact on individuals and families, encouraging the girls to respond with empathy, understanding, and compassion.

By purchasing Rare Disease Day badges, learners from the Rosebuds, Junior Primary, and Senior Primary phases raised both funds and awareness for those affected by rare diseases, standing in solidarity with communities around the world.
“Our girls showed that even a simple, joyful act can carry powerful meaning,” said Lynne Elfick, St Teresa’s School Junior Primary principal. “By participating in crazy hair day, they not only expressed their creativity; they demonstrated compassion and courage, values that lie at the heart of our school community.”

The school thanked families for their generous support, and for partnering in nurturing the girls who live the Rosie way with empathy and purpose.
