Cable finally re-routed from JRA’s storm water channel

JRA’s dug-up stormwater channel could see completion soon at Liquid Telecomms removes their cable so JRA can complete repairs.

Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) confirmed to the Gazette, on October 6, that its dug-up storm water channel along Oxford and 11th roads in Rosebank will soon be repaired and reinstated.

The Gazette first reported about a blocked storm water drain, along Cotswold Road, back in February this year, but the JRA team found that the source of the blockage stemmed from the storm water channel, which has since been dug-up for further investigations.

On September 19, the Gazette reported that Liquid Telecomms’ fibre cables were delaying the process of the storm water channel from being vacuumed and cleaned.

JRA’s head of regional operations Khaya Gqibitole said: “Liquid Telecomms is currently re-routing their services. This week, City Power and JRA’s traffic signals depot will reroute their cables.”

Repriment Segodi, acting assistant planning manager for Norwood depot in Region E, said: “After the service providers remove their cables, we will bring in a jetvac, and our team will repair and reinstate.”
