Lyndhurst Road reinstatement given new repair date

The incomplete reinstatements on Lyndhurst Road have been there since March, but now JRA has given a mid-May commencement date for the restoration.

Pipe bursts and delayed reinstatements and repairs are becoming a norm in Lyndhurst.

A journalist visited Lyndhurst Road on April 29, for the second time, after a resident contacted the publication in March to voice his frustrations about an outstanding reinstatement outside his gate, which becomes muddy when it rains.

The journalist was met with two other unattended reinstatements on the same street, resulting in heavy traffic due to one lane being barricaded by an unattended reinstatement.

Johannesburg Road Agency (JRA) head of operations Khaya Gqibitole said: “JRA has received the orders from Johannesburg Water for the Lyndhurst Road reinstatement. The work is scheduled to commence mid-May.”

Ward 81 councillor Joanne Horwitz said JRA’s delay and timeframe are unacceptable, and that she would be escalating the matter.
