Beagle Watch tackles crime in Craighall, Parkhurst and other suburbs
Private security provider Beagle Watch takes a proactive approach when fighting crime in the suburbs in its footprint.
Beagle Watch Armed Response takes a proactive approach in fighting crime in the suburbs of Craighall, Parkhurst, Parkview, Westcliff and more. The company’s managing director André Aiton shared some of the crimes they have fought.
“A few weeks ago, our teams in Atholl apprehended two suspects in two separate incidents in one weekend with the help of our CCTV technology. The one involved a Licence Plate Recognition alert on a vehicle linked to serious crimes. The vehicle was driving along Pretoria and Wierda roads, Atholl,” said Aiton.
He said one of their officers was on the scene in less than two minutes and found the vehicle on the corner of Dennis Road and Froome Street. The driver of the vehicle was escorted to the Sandton SAPS for questioning.
In a second incident, the CCTV Team picked up on suspicious activity on the corner of Cross Avenue and Atholl Road. A man was seen pushing a wheelbarrow. Another officer was on the scene in less than a minute and found the wheelbarrow abandoned in Atholl Road.
Searching further, the officers found and apprehended a suspect who had earlier been spotted at a construction site on Cross Avenue. Aiton said the suspect confessed to stealing a generator and a wheelbarrow. The suspect was handed over to the Bramley SAPS for further questioning. More recently, a Beagle Watch officer on patrol apprehended three suspects for trespassing in Atholl.
“A resident informed our officer on patrol that he had witnessed three suspects jumping over our client’s wall in South Avenue, Atholl. Our officer immediately investigated and successfully apprehended the three suspects.” They were handed over to the Bramley SAPS for further questioning and profiling.
Aiton said the company’s focus on high visibility and active patrolling around the clock, the effective use of technology, area-specific response officers who are highly trained to be proactive in fighting crime, and a strong focus on community involvement, are some of the reasons why Beagle Watch has an exceptionally high success rate in curbing crime in its footprint.
