Norwood police confirm discovery of deceased male near Melrose Street bridge
James and Ethel Gray Park Foundation chairperson, Sunil Geness confirmed law enforcement agencies were investigating the matter.
Norwood police confirm that a male was found deceased on October 14.
Two males found the body and alerted the police. Parademcis were called finding the man wearing only his pants and a wound to the back of his head.
James and Ethel Gray Park Foundation confirmed that the body found near the Melrose Street Bridge was not within the James and Ethel Gray Park vicinity.
Spokesperson Warrant Officer Eric Masotsha said, “We urged anyone who can lead us to any information so that police can quickly investigate and bring suspects into books of law. It is believed that the deceased was homeless staying or sleeping in a small shack. We have started our investigation and have made contact with his family members.”

Chairperson Sunil Geness said the loss of any life was heartbreaking, and their thoughts went out to the family and friends affected by the tragedy.

“We urge everyone to remain vigilant, particularly during the evening hours in and around our public spaces. If you notice anything unusual or suspicious, please do not hesitate to report it to the Community Action Patrol (CAP) or the South African Police Service.”
The publication reached out to the Norwood police to ascertain if they knew anything about the matter and was yet to receive a response.
