Roedean School (SA) hopes to build on its solid curriculum foundation in 2025
Roedean School (SA) hopes to expand its learn-to-swim programme.
As Roedean School (SA) looks forward to 2025, the school considers the importance of finding an increasing number of possible ways to share its excellence beyond its gates.
Head of school Annabel Roberts explained that ‘lean-in’ is the school’s tag phrase for the upcoming year where they hope to encourage commitment to their core offering and extend a challenge to themselves to purposefully seek opportunities to work with some of their neighbouring schools and communities.
As a school, Roedean prides itself on its holistic offerings where every learner is expected to participate in sporting and cultural activities until Grade 9.

“Our learners can choose to specialise after Grade 9. Our music department remains a dazzling jewel in our crown with nearly 200 of our 750 learners studying to play an individual instrument proficiently,” noted Roberts.
The school’s core business remains academics and made a habit of achieving outstanding IEB matric results.
The head of school noted that their 2024 goal was to ensure the school had increased structures to physically, psychologically and socially support its learners through a rigorous curriculum.
“We sincerely believe that our learners from Grade 0 through to matric have benefitted from our focus this year on habits that nurture holistic well-being. Our hope for 2025 is to build on the solid foundations of our curriculum and lean in even more.”

Roedean hopes to expand its learn-to-swim programme to include more schools and learners. The learning experience is critical in a country with one of the highest drowning statistics in the world.
Roberts concluded that as a school, they want to strategically ensure that they serve as an illustration of what can be achieved when the child is placed at the centre of the educational journey and all stakeholders commit to leaning into a better future for all.
