Ward 72 councillor and DA Shadow MMC for Development Planning Daniel Schay saw the power of collective action and the impact of engaged citizenship in the neighbourhood during 2024, and it makes him excited to see what the community can achieve in 2025.
As we close another year, Ward 72 councillor and DA Shadow MMC for Development Planning Daniel Shay is filled with immense pride and gratitude for the spirit and determination that defines the community.
Schay said, this year he saw the power of the community’s collective action and the impact of engaged citizenship in the neighborhood.
“The highlight of 2024 was undoubtedly our active participation in the National and Provincial elections. Your involvement was crucial in shaping the Government of National Unity, setting a new tone for governance, and rekindling hope for a brighter future across South Africa.”

He highlighted that the achievement spoke volumes about the community’s commitment to democracy and community leadership.
Schay noted that the community also celebrated the launch of the Service Delivery Tracker, a groundbreaking initiative that transformed how the community interacts with city services and holds authorities accountable.
“Despite the ongoing challenges with our water supply, the tracker has provided us with a tool to manage and escalate our concerns, leading to noticeable improvements in service response times. This is a testament to what we can achieve when we leverage technology and community feedback.”

Throughout the year, Schay has been continually inspired by the resilience and generosity of the residents. Their positive attitude and confidence in facing these challenges not only sustains the community’s efforts but drives the public to pursue even greater accomplishments.
“As we look forward to 2025, I am optimistic about the potential for further progress. We have laid a strong foundation, and with continued co-operation and commitment, we can enhance the quality of life in our ward, and ensure Johannesburg works for its people.”
