New Killarney-Riviera Association’s festive drive: Making Killarney-Riviera safer, cleaner, and greener

This festive season, the New Killarney-Riviera Association (NKRA) continues to unite residents in creating a safer, cleaner, and greener community.

As the festive season ends, the New Killarney-Riviera Association (NKRA) continues its mission to make the vibrant neighbourhood of Killarney-Riviera: Safer, cleaner, better, and greener. A voluntary association representing 40 out of the 55 sectional title buildings in the area, the NKRA is dedicated to fostering community spirit and enhancing the local environment.

From monthly public meetings to active involvement in the Hillbrow Community Policing Forum (CPF), the NKRA has created a platform where residents can come together, voice concerns, and work towards a more unified neighbourhood. Their recent initiative, the Community Street Patrol, has been a resounding success. Walking the streets at night, the patrol promotes safety and engages with the community, with trained security personnel on hand to ensure peace of mind.

In addition to safety, the NKRA runs upliftment projects to enhance the suburb’s appearance and functionality. Whether it’s repairing potholes, repainting street names, or launching the Themba cleanup projects, residents are rolling up their sleeves to make a difference. The community gardens, in 4th Street Park, are flourishing thanks to recent rains, and fresh produce is available to anyone in need. The association also encourages buildings to develop food gardens, with some already reaping the benefits.

As the year comes to a close, the NKRA wishes all residents a peaceful and joyful festive season. With new projects on the horizon, it’s clear that Killarney-Riviera’s best days are yet to come.
