Sports clubs, serious runners, and casual walkers were represented at the race by runners and walkers who filled the streets of Houghton.
CEO of Discovery Vitality Dinesh Govender said: “The race entry numbers are incredibly inspiring, because they have grown over the last few years. We partner with a lot of local running clubs: Gerald Memorial Fox, Orlando Athletics Club, and Old Eds. We have the Wanderers race coming up, which will be the last one in the Johannesburg series.”
Govender added that through the expansion of the road races throughout the country, Discovery Vitality aimed to get more people running, and that the entry numbers they’ve had thus far, exceeded pre-Covid race entries, which was inspiring. “Today was special for me because my daughter ran a 10km race with me. We have high-performing athletes here as well as walkers and runners who did the 5km.”
