Discovery Vitality’s Give2Move gives donation of shoes to Uthando Centre children
In an effort to get the youth moving, Discovery’s Give2Move campaign gifted Afrika Tikkun’s Uthando Centre 500 pairs of shoes.
Braamfontein based Afrika Tikkun’s Uthando Centre marked the next step in the Discovery Give2Move campaign, following successful handovers in Diepsloot and Alexandra.

Discovery Vitality’s chief clinical officer Dr Mosima Mabunda explained that a big part of the work done at Discovery Vitality was to encourage its members to be healthy. “Whether its walking or playing, exercising is important. We’ve seen that people who move, among our staff, are healthier than those who don’t, which is why, earlier this year, we took on the challenge posed by the Department of Sports and Culture to extend the movement initiative.”
Mabunda added that the most common challenge people faced was not having the correct walking or running shoes, and given the scale of their business, and the partnerships Discovery Vitality has with Virgin Active, they knew they could form a collaboration to get people to donate their preloved shoes.
Health and fitness lead at Afrika Tikkun Thomas Taole said the NPO was appreciative of the donation. “The donation means the children now have shoes to wear to participate in fitness, because we just want them to move. We know the benefits of exercising, which adds to their physical development.”
