The initiative brought together multiple agencies, including the South African Police Service (SAPS) from various stations, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), Environmental Health, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

Officers conducted stop-and-search operations across the Norwood area and Bramley precinct, aiming to ensure public safety and compliance.

Environmental Health officers focused on shops, butcheries, and second-hand goods outlets, inspecting them for regulatory violations, while EMS checked buildings for fire safety compliance.

The operation led to the arrest of up to 35 individuals for being in South Africa illegally, along with one suspect charged with assault with grievous bodily harm.

JMPD officers issued seven traffic fines for offences including driving without a licence, driving unlicensed vehicles, and failing to wear seatbelts.

Masotsha encouraged members of the public to report any criminal activity, providing SAPS contacts: 081 001 0111, or mobile numbers 071 675 6054 and 071 675 6057.

The joint operation highlights the co-ordinated effort of law enforcement agencies to protect the community and enforce regulations in preparation for this international event of global significance.
