Bramley CPF Sector 2 held its first Steering Committee meeting
The new data-driven Community Safety Programme aims to benefit Bramley, Kew, Gresswold, and Savoy Estate.
Bramley Community Policing Forum (CPF) Sector 2 Steering Committee, together with Bramley SAPS, JMPD and Johannesburg Water, City Power and City Power, gathered at Bramley SAPS’ boardroom on October 29, to advance a new, data-driven Community Safety Programme.
The initiative forms part of a broader safety transformation strategy for Bramley, Kew, Gresswold, and Savoy Estate, and will officially launch on November 22, in alignment with South Africa’s National 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.

The Safe Corridors and Park Shield Programme will work as a 90-day pilot, designed as a ‘proof of concept’ phase to test coordination mechanisms, measure real-world impact, and refine tools before full-scale rollout across Region E.
The pilot integrates five interconnected sub-programmes, each with a sustainability focus and measurable outcomes:
Park Shield – Linking parks along major corridors to improve visibility, reduce vagrancy, and restore environmental safety for recreation.
Infrastructure Shield – Coordinating rapid response to lighting, cable, and signage faults to prevent crime through service reliability.
By-Law Enforcement – Strengthening compliance on liquor, noise, and trading regulations to prevent the recurrence of corridor disorder.
Community Awareness – Running continuous public education and school-based campaigns to foster long-term behavioural change.
Patrol and Response – Expanding resident and private-security participation to promote shared responsibility and active reporting.

Pamela Singh, chairperson of Bramley CPF Sector 2, added, “This programme is not another quick fix. It’s a long-term social contract between residents, businesses, and our stakeholders. One that reclaims our corridors, restores our parks and builds confidence in public safety again.”
From Pilot to Replicable Intersector-Wide Model
By November 2026, the Safe Corridors Programme aims to:
- Deliver measurable and sustained crime reduction along all pilot corridors.
- Achieve inter-departmental response service level agreements below 48 hours.
- Maintain community participation through 200+ active volunteers.
- Operate a live Corridor Dashboard accessible to Region E and the CPF.
- Serve as a replicable city-wide model for urban safety transformation.
These goals will be pursued alongside ongoing GBV-awareness campaigns and school partnerships in support of the 16 Days of Activism theme.
