Still Good Mondays delivers hope across Rosebank

Every second Monday, a wave of generosity sweeps through the city, as Still Good, 94.7, and Primedia Cares delivers fresh food to shelters and communities, turning surplus produce into shared hope.

There’s something beautifully simple about sharing good food, especially when it’s food that might otherwise go to waste.

This Monday, the Sisters of Mercy Immaculata Shelter in Rosebank was filled with laughter, and the scent of fresh produce, as twenty bulging bags of fruit and vegetables arrived at their doorstep.

The delivery was part of Still Good Mondays, a new partnership between online platform Still Good, radio station 94.7, and Primedia Cares, which aims to bring nutritious food to those who need it most.

Still Good, the brainchild of social entrepreneur Steffen Burrows, acts as a bridge between supermarket shelves and family kitchens. The platform connects shoppers with fresh groceries nearing their sell-by dates, still perfectly good to eat, at discounts of up to 65%.

Major retailers, such as Spar and Pick n Pay, have already signed up, helping reduce food waste while putting wholesome meals on South African tables.

But the initiative isn’t just about affordability. “As a social enterprise, we donate 10% of our earnings to NGOs that feed the country’s most vulnerable,” explained Burrows, as he helped unload crates of carrots and cabbages.

“Still Good Mondays takes it a step further, by delivering directly to shelters, schools, and community kitchens.”

Every second Monday, teams from Still Good and 94.7 will move through Johannesburg, handing over bags of produce, grains, and other essentials to non-profits that make a daily difference.

At the shelter, Sister Bernadette smiled as volunteers stacked the produce in their modest kitchen. “It’s not just food; it’s kindness, and it reminds us that even in tough times, people still care.”

That’s what Still Good Mondays is all about, turning what might have been wasted into something deeply nourishing… Hope.
