Sandringham SAPS unites with stakeholders against gender-based violence for 16 days of activism campaign

The 16 days of activism campaign, featuring Sandringham SAPS, the department of community safety, community in blue, and the South African National Council on Alcoholism, began in Bramley View for their stand against GBV.

Sandringham SAPS, CPF, the department of community safety, community in blue, and the South African National Council on Alcoholism united and came out in numbers to stand against gender-based violence (GBV) in light of 16 days of activism.

Sandringham SAPS led a convoy on December 6, which began in Bramley View, where officers engaged with community members about 16 days of activism, which began on November 25 and will continue until December 10.

The campaign is a global movement to combat GBV by raising awareness, promoting policy change, and encouraging community action against violence towards women and children.

Constable Richard Rangwanashe reiterated that community members must speak up and report any form of violence to their local police stations.

Sandringham CPF’s Janet Murray explained the importance of carrying out the GBV campaigns in communities. “We’re in Sector 2 today and are delivering the GBV campaign, which is part of the portfolio.

Today we’ve gone through Bramley, Organic Market, Grenvile, and River Park Library.

We’ve been on foot sharing the message, and people have been enthusiastic to see what we’re doing and talking about, which is important because we are in the 16 days of activism.”
