Drums of unity echo through Constitution Hill
Rhythm, reflection and resistance take centre stage at Johannesburg’s Human Rights Festival.
Constitution Hill is alive with sound and purpose as the Human Rights Festival unfolds from March 26 to 29, drawing people together through art, activism and shared humanity.
Among the standout moments is the 1000 Drums in Solidarity gathering, where members of the public are invited to simply arrive and take part. With drums waiting, the invitation is clear. Come as you are and join the rhythm.

The beating drums carry a powerful message of unity, as participants stand in solidarity with communities affected by conflict in Palestine, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan and beyond, including here in South Africa.
Alongside the music, voices of change will be heard through speakers such as Shomari Mukandjwa, Zukiswa Wanner and Roshan Dadoo, who will share insight, poetry and perspectives shaped by lived experience.
