Targeted shooting outside Houghton law firm leaves bodyguard wounded
Gunmen ambush vehicle at law firm entrance in what police believe may be a targeted attack.
A suspected targeted shooting took place in Houghton on April 10, leaving one person wounded.
According to police, four individuals arrived at a law firm for a consultation when gunmen opened fire on their vehicle at the entrance.

A bodyguard accompanying the group sustained a gunshot wound to the leg while attempting to flee and was treated at the scene before being taken for further medical care.
Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed that officers responded to the incident and found the injured victim on arrival.
“Information suggests that four clients were arriving to consult with their attorney when shots were fired at their Ford Ranger bakkie at the entrance of the firm,” she said.

The suspects reportedly fled the scene in a silver-grey Jeep. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage, but police believe the attack may have been targeted.
11th Avenue, between 5th and 6th Street, was closed while investigations were underway.
A case of attempted murder has been opened, and police investigations continue.
