An anonymous caller alerted the client service centre, reporting that a man had been dropped off by a BMW and was standing outside a residence’s gate. Police responded swiftly and, upon arrival, found a suspect matching the description still at the scene.

Officers approached the man using standard tactical procedures and identified themselves before requesting permission to search him.

The suspect consented to the search. Masotsha said officers found an unlicensed firearm hidden under the man’s jacket and illegal drugs in his pocket.

When questioned, the suspect claimed the firearm belonged to a company, but could not provide a valid license. Unsatisfied with his explanation, officers arrested him.
