Wanderers Ladies fall short in season finale despite spirited fight
A brave batting effort and determined defence were not enough as Wanderers Ladies closed their season with a hard-fought loss to Delfos.
In a match shaped as much by resilience as by the unpredictable Highveld weather, the Wanderers Chariots Ladies ended their season with a determined performance against Delfos Ladies.
A delayed start, on March 28, reduced the number of overs, adding an extra layer of pressure to an already important encounter. After losing the toss, Wanderers were sent in to bat first, facing early challenges as Delfos struck quickly with the ball.
Despite the early setbacks, Wanderers middle order steadied the innings with composure and intent. Srilekha Medisetti led the recovery with a well-crafted 27, while Yashika Dinna added a valuable 23.

Their partnership helped guide the side to a total of 117 runs, setting up what promised to be a competitive defence.
With the target set, Wanderers took to the field with renewed energy. Khanyi Nkosi provided the early breakthrough, igniting hopes of a strong defensive effort. The bowlers maintained disciplined lines, with Traci Brest delivering a controlled spell of 0 for 14 from four overs, while Dinna added pressure with figures of 0 for 11 from two overs.
However, Delfos proved resolute with the bat. Their steady chase gradually shifted the momentum, and despite another wicket, they reached the target with confidence, securing victory by seven wickets.
While the result did not go Wanderers way, the match reflected the team’s fighting spirit and ability to regroup under pressure. With the season now concluded, the focus shifts to the upcoming Jozi Cup during the winter months, where the Wanderers Ladies will look to build on their performances and return even stronger.
