Wanderers lose to Elande Alberton Rugby Club

Wanderers Rugby Club captain aims for improved performances in upcoming games.

Wanderers Rugby Club lost 25–43 at home to Elande Alberton Rugby Club on June 27.

Supporters filled the stands and braved the cold front to watch their respective teams battle it out in Illovo.

Elande captain Shane Kirkwood was happy with the team’s performance.

“We performed as anticipated; well done to Wanderers as well because they put up a good fight and are quality players.

As Alberton Rugby Club, we’re on track, which makes us happy, and we look forward to our next game.”

Wanderer’s captain, Busanda Mabaso, thanked the supporters for their endless support.

“We let ourselves down today; the energy was low and non-existent. I don’t think our heads were in the game; we missed a lot of opportunities as a team and as individuals.”

Mabaso noted that as it stood, the team had to win their upcoming games to qualify for the playoffs.

“Moving forward, as a team was are aiming for improvement. I want to see us play winning rugby and get the spark that we lost back.”
